Nava Public Benefit Corp. is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to drive the growth of their engineering team while contributing technically as needed.

You will work with cross-functional teams and government partners to deliver secure, scalable cloud-based solutions aligned with Nava’s mission and values. The role emphasizes leadership, architectural guidance, and hands-on coding, focusing on long-term impact, collaboration, and delivering reliable systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment.
• 1+ year of People Management experience.
• Production-grade, cloud-native microservices and RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Boot, containerized deployment patterns.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, using JDBC and ORM mappers like Hibernate.
• DevOps experience, preferably with Jenkins CI/CD.
• Experience utilizing AWS cloud native services and data engineering.
• Strong problem-solving, resourcefulness, and attention to detail; strategic thinking and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Write code and perform code reviews.
• Write and review technical specifications.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks with cross-functional product teams.
• Guide engineering on planning, estimation, prioritization, trade-offs, and debt management.
• Review architecture and designs from other teams; design technical roadmaps.
