Job summary

Slack is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineering Leader to drive accessibility strategies with Product and Design, and to own Slack Kit, Slack's design system and frontend component library. You will partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure accessible UX patterns for screen readers and keyboard navigation, while enabling rapid, consistent feature delivery.

• Drive Slack's accessibility strategy with Product and Design counterparts


• Partner with teams across Slack to ensure UX patterns are accessible and usable, including for screen-reader and keyboard-navigation users


• Own and continually evolve Slack Kit, Slack's design system and frontend component library


• Enable designers and engineers to build product features quickly and consistently


• Set technical direction and facilitate execution for major frontend engineering initiatives, including CSS architecture modernization


• Develop roadmaps and milestones with individual-contributor leads for multi-quarter projects


• Provide feedback, coaching, and growth opportunities for team members


• Build a sustainable, high-performing, supportive, and challenging team environment

Requirements

• 3+ years leading software engineering teams


• Previous experience as a Senior+ Frontend Software Engineer


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Organizational and time management skills


• Experience hiring, mentoring, and leading engineers


• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and product management to understand requirements and describe software product features and technical designs


• Understanding of how and where AI software development tooling can be deployed for maximum team impact


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience


• Experience with design systems and/or UI component libraries is nice to have


• Experience championing needs outside one's own lived experience or day-to-day work is nice to have
