Job summary

Mercury is seeking a senior engineering manager to lead the Custody team as it scales to serve mutual and institutional clients. You will guide core custody systems—ledgers, security master service, reconciliation—and set the technical strategy and roadmap in partnership with product and operations.

You will hire and mentor senior engineers, translate business and regulatory requirements into resilient systems, and balance new capabilities with reliability and incident response.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience managing highly technical teams.
• Direct experience building or operating RIA and broker-dealer custody systems at scale.
• Understanding broker-dealer operating model and data flow across introducing brokers, clearing firms, and custodians.
• Worked closely with compliance and operations teams translating requirements into engineering decisions and controls.
• Understanding securities lifecycle and settlement implications for cash and positions across equities, fixed income, ETFs, and mutual funds.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and develop a team of senior engineers, providing feedback and fostering a trusting environment.
• Own the team’s technical strategy and roadmap, translating Mercury’s investment goals into priorities and delivery.
• Guide design and evolution of core custody systems: ledgers, security master service, reconciliation, position tracking.
• Partner with product, investment operations, and compliance to turn requirements into well-designed systems with auditable workflows.
• Collaborate with Product and Partnerships to align integrations, responsibilities, and roadmaps.
• Set high bar for correctness, reliability, and incident response while balancing new capabilities with maintenance.
