Job summary

ServiceNow in the United States is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead the Workflow Automation, Intelligence & Mining team. You’ll guide people, own delivery outcomes, and set operating standards, staying close to day-to-day engineering while shaping the team's trajectory.

You will drive major architecture initiatives, mentor engineers, and coordinate with product and support to ensure reliable, scalable platform releases. This is a hands-on leadership role with broad impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or technical leadership.
• 3+ years managing engineers.
• Experience leading complex platform initiatives and high-stakes releases to production.
• Technical depth for architecture, system design, and troubleshooting.
• Experience building or integrating AI and GenAI into production systems (agents, LLM-based workflows).
• Judgment balancing engineering standards with delivery pressure across a team.
• Experience building operating machinery of an engineering team: rubrics, staffing models, reusable patterns.
• Strong cross-functional stakeholder management and reporting to executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow the team, including Staff, Sr, and Jr-level ICs; own hiring and career development.
• Own delivery outcomes across your part of the platform, from architecture initiatives to production escalations.
• Serve as senior escalation owner for critical production issues; coordinate path-to-green plans.
• Set and uphold engineering standards; define what great looks like and back engineers.
• Champion shared architecture patterns, tooling, and documentation to enable the team.
• Report delivery status, platform health, and program signals to executives.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to align roadmap with technical strategy.
