Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Unified Observability team, delivering a single platform for metrics, logs, and traces across services. You will partner with PM and engineering to convert product strategy into a roadmap and drive cross-team alignment on data ingestion, performance, and cost controls.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years directly managing engineering teams.
• Track record of shipping complex, cross-team distributed systems and owning delivery outcomes end-to-end.
• Experience setting expectations or practices around AI coding tools on a team you've led.

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery and health of the Unified Observability team: staffing, prioritization, execution rhythm, and quality bar.
• Partner with Product Management and the engineering team to align cross-functional architectural decisions and translate product strategy into an executable roadmap.
• Drive cross-team alignment with partners on data ingestion, query performance, and cost boundaries.
• Remove blockers and make tradeoffs that keep delivery on track, escalating when necessary.
• Champion AI-assisted engineering as a working default and ensure a high bar for verifying AI-generated work.
• Own operational health: on-call practices, incident response, and production reliability for the platform.
• Build and safeguard team culture in a collaborative, low-ego environment.
• Set expectations for using AI coding assistants across the lifecycle.
