General Motors is seeking an Software Engineering Manager who codes and leads a 6–12 person team across vehicle order management, scheduling, and logistics domains. You will balance hands-on coding with strategic direction, architect systems, and drive AI-enabled development practices.

The role emphasizes delivering high-quality software at speed, guiding architecture, and mentoring teammates while aligning with GM’s Cloud First and AI First initiatives.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in CS/CE/Math/IT or related field with 6–9 yrs, or 10–12 yrs of full-time experience.
• 2+ yrs leading a software engineering team with hiring and performance mgmt.
• 3+ yrs designing and architecting reliable, scalable systems.
• Hands-on coding in Java, Python, TypeScript/JS, Go, C#, or Kotlin during interviews.
• At least 1 yr daily hands-on use of AI coding assistants in real work.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), APIs, microservices, CI/CD, code review, source control.

Responsibilities

• Translate strategy into team objectives, resource plans, and OKRs.
• Own delivery metrics, lead large cross‑dept projects, align with Product Management.
• Write, review, and merge production code for critical features and fixes.
• Design architectures, services, APIs, and data models for SaaS/ERP.
• Guide engineers, enforce policies, and drive agentic development adoption.
• Own on-call, incident response, post-mortems, and quality delivery.
