Job summary

General Motors (GM) seeks a Software Engineering Manager for the Order Fulfillment Software Factory. You will lead a 6–12 person team across Vehicle Order Management, Order Scheduling, or Global Logistics, with hands-on coding about 30–40% of the time.

You’ll set direction, measure delivery and quality, and drive AI-enabled development practices. You will own architectural design, guide cross-team interfaces, and champion modern cloud-native approaches while overseeing incident response and

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field plus 6–9 years of relevant experience; or 10–12 years of full-time relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of experience managing a team of software engineers with varied skill levels, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• At least 3 years of experience designing and architecting new and existing systems for reliability and scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team’s delivery and direction with clear objectives and plans.
• Own the team’s metrics, KPIs, and contribute to factory goals.
• Drive large multi-department projects and build area roadmaps with PM.
• Write, review, and merge production code for critical features.
• Guide engineers on complex problems and architect solutions.
• Own incident response, on-call, and postmortems with high quality.
