Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Sr. Manager, Engineering to lead the Application & Systems Engineering for energy storage initiatives in the US.

Starting as a high-impact individual contributor, the role will transition into leading the systems & application engineering team as the business scales, bridging customers, vendors, and the SK On ecosystem. You will design utility-scale BESS architectures, support pre-sales, respond to RFPs, and negotiate technical contracts, with growth into leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in engineering or related field.
• 7–10+ years in technical/engineering with BESS experience.
• Experience with utility-scale projects and energy storage contracts desirable.
• Familiar with ISO-NE, NYPA, ERCOT, CAISO interconnection processes.
• PE license a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of utility-scale BESS solutions.
• Act as technical authority for SK On energy storage engagements.
• Lead pre-contract technical efforts and vendor coordination for RFPs.
• Support FAT and field testing with vendors.
• Develop testing methodologies and reporting for BESS grid integration.
• Provide lifecycle support and technical training.
• Grow from senior IC to manage the engineering team as business scales.
• Negotiate technical contract exhibits and LTSA terms.
