Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Sr BESS Optimization Engineer to lead technical solutions for utility-scale energy storage projects with a project development mindset. The role focuses on state-of-the-art technology and design features to fulfill dispatch and evolving market use cases.

The candidate will influence system architecture standards, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across Development, Procurement, and EPC teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
• 7+ years of proven experience with energy storage technologies.
• Proven product management and product development experience.
• Mentor engineers and drive high performance and talent development.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic planning impacting product selection, technology roadmap, or standardization.
• Evaluate emerging storage technologies focusing on long-duration capability, cost, reliability, and lifecycle performance.
• Improve standard project designs to optimize cost, performance, constructability and reliability.
• Coordinate with Development, Procurement, and EPC to align engineering and business needs.
• Participate in enterprise forums and technical steering committees.
