Job summary

Urban Grid is seeking a Sr. Manager/Director of BESS Development to lead the technical and commercial development of utility-scale battery storage projects across the development lifecycle.

You will define system architectures, oversee equipment selection, and support diligence through financial close. Collaborate with Construction, Procurement, Interconnection, Offtake teams and OEMs to optimize configurations, manage supplier relations, and drive value while ensuring compliance with ITC and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of utility-scale BESS development, operations or sales.
• Strong understanding of Li-ion technology, BESS architecture, PCS, EMS, SCADA.
• Experience with battery OEMs and system integrators; evaluating supplier proposals.
• Experience supporting project finance due diligence.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Willingness to travel; hybrid Houston location.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical aspects of standalone and hybrid BESS development from early-stage through construction.
• Coordinate technical input into financial models and procurement.
• Negotiate supplier terms; manage contracts and risk mitigation.
• Support interconnection studies; monitor regulatory and ITC compliance.
• Act as primary technical interface for executive management on project decisions.
