Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Sr. Manager of Software Engineering to lead engineering teams delivering the digital member experience and enterprise initiatives. You will collaborate with product managers, architects and design, guiding large, complex programs across Retail and Digital teams.

The role requires strong Agile leadership, hands-on cloud development experience with Angular and Java, and a proven ability to recruit and mentor high-performing engineers in a matrixed environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on engineering and software development.
• 5+ years of hands‑on cloud development in GCP/any public/local cloud, along with expertise in building applications using Angular and Java frameworks.
• 4+ years recruiting, managing, and retaining a high-performing team of software development professionals in an agile environment
• 1+ year using generative AI as an integrated component in software solutions

Responsibilities

• Technical oversight: Design and oversee build-out of complex distributed systems at scale.
• Engineering leadership: Direct, support, and evaluate value and scalable solutions.
• System performance: Monitor KPIs and OKRs; optimize team and system performance.
• Talent management: Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing engineers; foster innovation.
• End-to-end ownership: Lead team from strategy through delivery in complex projects.
• Prioritization and pivots: Guide prioritization aligned with strategic objectives.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with engineering, platform, design and security teams.
• Coalition building: Build relationships with partners and customers to meet goals.
• Risk management: Identify and mitigate risks; communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Staying current: Stay updated on trends, AI, and best practices to drive innovation.
