Job summary

APX is seeking a Senior Engineer Lead to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Engineering Department, ensuring the design, development, and support of custom sheet metal enclosures and fabricated products from concept through production. This role partners with Sales, Estimating, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to deliver cost-effective solutions.

• Experience leading an engineering team and delivering custom sheet metal enclosures.
• Ability to review drawings, models, BOMs, and technical documentation for manufacturability and compliance.
• Proven track record in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Strong collaboration with Sales, Estimating, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the Engineering team with accountability and continuous improvement.
• Establish department goals, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with company objectives.
• Oversee design and development of custom sheet metal enclosures and fabricated assemblies.
• Review drawings, BOMs, and documentation for manufacturability, safety, and UL compliance.
• Partner with Production and Fabrication to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste.
• Coordinate cross-functional project teams and monitor timelines and budgets.
• Lead lean, DFM, and process-improvement initiatives with measurable KPIs.
