Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Application Development to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale applications, APIs, integrations, and cloud-based solutions in a fully remote setting.

This hands-on leadership role blends architecture with engineering management, guiding a team of 5–7 engineers and shaping AWS-based cloud architectures, microservices, and API-first initiatives.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years in software engineering/app dev.
• 5+ years in technical leadership or engineering management.
• Strong hands-on architecture and solution design experience.
• Strong Java/Spring Boot background.
• Extensive experience with REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
• Experience designing cloud solutions on AWS.
• Experience with event-driven architectures.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to lead complex programs from architecture to execution.
• Experience leading distributed teams.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery and modern software practices.
• Exposure to AI-assisted software development or intelligent workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise applications and modernization initiatives.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across Java, APIs, microservices, AWS, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Develop high-level and low-level solution designs and ensure successful implementation.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers (approx. 5–7 resources).
• Drive projects and larger technical initiatives from design through production delivery.
• Partner with product, architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders.
• Lead development of cloud apps using modern AWS architecture patterns.
• Drive adoption of microservices, event-driven architecture, reusable services, and API-first design.
• Oversee enterprise API and integration design, development, security, and governance.
• Support adoption of AI-assisted development tools and AI-powered workflows.
• Champion Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, quality engineering, and observability best practices.
