Job summary

Prince William County is seeking a Special Inspections Senior Engineer to review construction drawings and engineering reports, and to conduct on-site field visits to confirm compliance with approved plans and the Virginia Building Code.

This full-time role blends office review with field work, requires EIT and Virginia inspector certifications over time, and offers a starting salary range of $76,069.50 - $94,605.76 plus comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of related experience.
3–4 years engineering experience
Experience with MS Office and CAD
Experience with code knowledge to perform quality control reviews
Experience scheduling maintenance and inspections prior to building inspections

Responsibilities

Review construction drawings and engineering reports and communicate with customers to ensure public safety.
Perform field site visits to active construction sites to verify compliance with approved plans.
Conduct quality assurance to ensure construction and testing comply with the building code and approved plans.
Interact with contractors, engineers, owners and citizens to convey information and guidance.
