Job summary

Prince William County Public Works, Construction, and Operations Division is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support county-wide projects with a balance of office and field work. The role supports project development, management, and oversight in collaboration with managers, engineers, and licensed surveyors.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited university and at least one year of civil engineering, project management, and surveying experience.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a related field from an ABET-accredited university.
• Minimum of one year of relevant civil engineering, project management, and surveying field experience.
• Working knowledge of civil engineering principles related to public works infrastructure; ability to read metes and bounds deeds, survey plats, engineering plans, contour maps, and construction plans.
• Preferred: Licensed Engineer and/or Surveyor in Virginia.
• Preferred: Intermediate Level VDOT Work Area Protection Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist managers, principal engineers, and licensed surveyors with project development, management, and oversight.
• Stake out road improvements and conduct as-built surveys of stormwater basins.
• Mark clearing right-of-way, establish county easements, and handle tasks related to heavy construction.
• Read and interpret metes and bounds deeds, survey plats, and construction plans.
