Velcro USA Inc. is seeking an engineer to install, improve, and evaluate manufacturing equipment and processes. The role focuses on reducing quality costs and maximizing customer satisfaction through data-driven improvements.

Responsibilities include validating equipment and processes, developing project charters, liaising with design teams, transferring solutions to operations, and sustaining gains with control plans. Travel <10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Chemical or Plastics Engineering with 5–9 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of statistics, process validation, root cause analysis and Six Sigma tools.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, communication and project management skills.

Job Objective:

Perform a variety of engineering work to install, improve, and evaluate new and existing manufacturing equipment and processes. Understand internal and external customer requirements, align work product with capability to minimize the cost of poor quality and maximize customer satisfaction.

Essential JobFunctions:
  • Utilize appropriate statistical and data analysis tools within a structured problem-solving approachto characterize and improve existing processes, and to translate customer requirements into repeatable and capable manufacturingprocesses.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze multi-phase validation runs to determine if new equipment, processes, and tooling meet functional performancerequirements.
  • Develop and maintain Project Charters and Implementation Plans (includes establishingproject scope, anticipated gains, required resources, timelines,etc.)
  • Act as technical liaison to development groups, participate on design/project review teams.Develop product and equipment specifications to ensure resulting processes are manufacturingcapable.
  • Support transfer of project solutions or new processes to on-going operations, through operator training and development of standard operating procedures, whereapplicable.
  • Establish and implement control plans to ensure project gains and improvements are realizedand maintained overtime.
  • Understand and contribute to the development of the operational strategy that in turn drives Operational Excellence activity regionally and globally.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree in Chemical or Plastics Engineering with 5-9 years industry experience. Mechanical, industrial, or other related Engineering fields considered with relevant knowledge andexperience.
  • Knowledge of applied statistics, process validation, root cause analysis and Six Sigma Tools. Computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and project management skills. Ability to self-pace learn including book, web-based, and classroomparticipation.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally. (<10%)
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the country of employment without current or future employer-sponsored visa support.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience utilizing Mini Tab statistical software. Knowledge of textile and/or plastics manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with web management and converting processes.
