Job summary

Velcro USA Inc. seeks a senior engineer to apply advanced engineering and scientific principles in R&D, design, and development.

You will lead one or more projects, mentor teammates, and provide technical guidance across cross‑functional groups to achieve timely deliverables. You will analyze data to identify trends, document conclusions, and support corrective actions while contributing to innovations that improve product performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Math with 9+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 9+ years of experience.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience delivering projects that meet commercial expectations and manage costs.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering procedures for R&D and product development.
  • Lead or contribute to design, development, support or manufacturing of parts, processes, or components.
  • Mentor team members and provide technical guidance to cross‑functional teams.
  • Analyze data, identify trends and perform trade-off analyses.
  • Develop test methods, specifications, and processes for complex components and functions.
  • Lead CAPA or complaint investigations and communicate findings.

Job description

Using Engineering procedures standard for research and development, carries out assignments associated with research, design, development, support or manufacturing of specific parts, processes, or components of products. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Under the general direction of a functional manager, with moderate latitude for self-direction, operates in one or more areas of responsibility within a specific function. Applies advanced engineering and scientific principles to determine and evaluate technical feasibility for challenging projects; Solves complex customer problems using a variety of technologies. Serves as global project/technology leader; leads brainstorming meetings across the organization and gets buy-in from cross functional partners. Acts as an individual contributor, core team or technical lead for a specific project. Accountable for the completion of assigned deliverables in accordance with approved schedules. Authors documentation and participates in activities in support of design control. Independently plans, performs & prioritizes tasks that are complex in nature, in alignment with corporate goals. Analyzes and interprets data, identifying trends and formulating the next steps, while effectively performing trade off analysis, if required by the function. Leads, designs and/or develops one or more of the following: new test methods, specifications, technical apparatus, software and processes for complex components and functions. Identifies product defects and recognizes outliers in results. Able to explain and document product defects and their impact. Effectively communicates technical information to a multidisciplinary team in the form of documentation, presentations and technical summaries and promotes collaboration. Technical expertise in (2) areas and emerging as a subject matter expert. Provides technical guidance to and/or supervision of other group members and cross-functional technical teams. Able to mentor others. Provides technical support for or leads Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) or complaint investigations. Independently generates predictable schedules for activities related to the function, understanding cross-functional dependencies. Recommends and leads implementation of improvement initiatives to aid department practices. Contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts for new products and enhancements to current product performance.

Knowledge & Experience (Minimum Job Qualifications): Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Math, or related field and 11 years’ experience or master’s degree and 9 years’ experience. Minimum 9 years of experience in product development with an emphasis on various aspects of engineering design and development. Superior project management skills and experience; proven success in understanding project financials and determining product cost drivers. Extensive proven success in delivering projects to commercial expectations. Strong statistical analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Creative Problem Solving, and Critical Thinking skills. Strong in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Design of Experiments methods. Ability to work well independently or collaboratively in teams. Experience working in cross-functional teams; ability to work and thrive in a team environment. Superior time management, communication, and interpersonal skills Proven success coaching and mentoring others. MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) Ability to travel domestically and internationally; 10% Travel Applicants must be authorized to work in the country of employment without current or future employer-sponsored visa support.
