Job summary

ATI is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead and optimize hot working processes for manufacturing Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel products. You will leverage metallurgical expertise to enhance process efficiency, product quality, and safety, while supporting development and standardization of new products.

You will act as technical lead, collaborate across functions, and apply modeling and data analysis to improve yields, scrap rates, and cycle times, with a strong focus on shop-floor guidance

Qualifications

• B.S. in Metallurgical, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering.
• Masters or Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering with a metals focus preferred.

Responsibilities

• Technical lead for post-melt processes including open die press forging, radial forging, and hot rolling of Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel products.
• Develop and maintain metallurgical and operational expertise in processing of Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel alloys.
• Lead and support cross-functional programs to improve process right the first time, yield, cost, and cycle time.
• Resolve process-related non-conformances and reduce/eliminate scrap.
• Apply thermal/deformation modeling to evaluate and improve products and processes.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to improve manufacturing processes and standards for safety, equipment, and product quality.
• Lead or participate in team-based continuous improvement activities including risk assessments, 5-why problem solving, CEDAC or cause & effect, process mapping, process audits, and standard work.
• Support internal/external customers by collecting and analyzing thermo-mechanical processing data.
• Support Product Engineering and R&D in development, evaluation, and standardization of new products and processes.
• Provide technical support during customer audits.
