Job summary

ATI is seeking a Process Engineer to lead and optimize hot working processes for Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel production. You will leverage metallurgical expertise to improve process efficiency, product quality, and safety while supporting new product development and standardization.

The role requires a strong background in metals processing, data-driven problem solving, and collaboration across Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering.
  • Internships and/or co-op work experience in a metals-related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize post-melt processes including open die press forging, radial forging, and hot rolling of Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel products.
  • Develop and maintain metallurgical and operational expertise in processing of Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel alloys.
  • Lead and support cross-functional programs to improve yield, cost, and cycle time.
  • Resolve process-related non-conformances and reduce scrap.
  • Apply thermal/deformation modeling to evaluate and improve products and processes.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to improve safety, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities (risk assessments, 5-why, CEDAC, process mapping, standard work).
  • Support customers by analyzing thermo-mechanical processing data.
  • Support Product Engineering and R&D in development and standardization of new products and processes.
