Job summary

The City of Aurora, Colorado is seeking a Senior Engineer on the Water Project Delivery Services Team to lead the procurement and management of consultants and contractors for complex capital projects.

You will mentor project management staff, apply advanced engineering and project management principles, and coordinate with stakeholders to keep projects on scope, schedule, and budget while upholding City standards and codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Eight (8) years of experience in progressively responsible project management including one year of leadership or managerial experience.
• PE (or equivalent) registration in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
• Project Management Profession (PMP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Procure design consultants and contractors to deliver capital improvement projects.
• Manage and negotiate project scope, fee, and schedule for assigned projects.
• Communicate project status updates to stakeholders including budget and schedule impacts.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and engineering reports in conformance with City standards and City codes.
• Apply expert engineering knowledge and understanding to deliver assigned projects.
• Apply expert project management principles to deliver assigned projects.
• Coach and mentor project management team members.
• Independently represent the department in multiple internal and external settings.
