Job summary

City of Aurora is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Facilities Project Delivery division within Public Works. This leadership role oversees municipal building design, capital improvements and new construction from planning to completion.

Responsibilities include budget management, contract negotiation, and coordinating with departments, consultants, and contractors to deliver high-quality facilities for the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or directly related field from ABET accredited program.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience as an engineer/architect in building construction.
• Minimum of 4 years of construction coordination.
• Colorado driver’s license with good driving history; PE license in Colorado or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Apply expert engineering knowledge to complex technical projects.
• Review complex reports, drawings, and specifications for scope, quality, budget and schedule alignment.
• Coordinate RFQ/RFP processes, pre-proposal meetings, and interviews; assist in award recommendations.
• Negotiate and monitor contracts, pay applications, invoices, and change orders.
• Manage project budgets and ensure on-time, under-budget delivery to client satisfaction.
• Collaborate with City departments, consultants, contractors, and Public Works operations.
