Job summary
Caterpillar seeks a Senior Engineer - Design - Electrification to conceive and direct advanced electrification system designs at the Chillicothe, IL facility. You will lead analysis, simulations, and testing, coordinating with plants and engineering teams to meet development milestones.
The role requires a Master’s in Electrical Engineering and hands-on experience with DC-DC, DC-AC, and power electronics, with domestic travel up to 10%.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with AutoCAD/Bluebeam for schematics.
- Design and development of DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters.
- Circuit simulations using MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, LTspice, or PSIM.
- Selection and evaluation of power semiconductor devices including IGBTs, MOSFETs, and SiC/GaN.
- Compliant with NEC, EPA, SAE J1995, OSHA, IEC, ROHS and UL.
- Up to 1.5kV converter design and architecture.
- Rectifiers, Transformers (Dry and wet), Batteries (NMC and LFP).
- PVsyst/etap for incident and short-circuit analysis.
Responsibilities
- Conceive and direct design of electrification systems.
- Lead and coordinate design, analysis, and tests.
- Prepare development plans and meet project milestones.
- Interact with plants and engineering departments to ensure progress.
- Resolve design and manufacturing problems for reliability and manufacturability.
- Travel to Caterpillar plants, dealerships, and job sites as required (up to 10% domestic).
