Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks an Embedded Software Senior Engineer for its Chillicothe, IL facility. You will design, implement and test software for embedded controls on diesel engines, focusing on architecture, verification and performance optimization.

You will gather requirements, prepare SRS documents, and collaborate across teams to ensure robust, maintainable code. The role requires a bachelor’s (or master’s) in EE/CE/CS with embedded focus and hands-on experience in C, model-based development,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field with embedded focus.
• 4 years of embedded software experience; 3 years with a master's degree.
• Design, build and test embedded software for diesel engine controls.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Git or ClearCase.
• 2 years concurrent experience with C programming and model based development.

Responsibilities

• Manage design, build and test library or application software for embedded systems on diesel engines.
• Develop software for embedded electronic control systems and verify functionality.
• Gather requirements and create the SRS document; write and test embedded code.
• Collaborate with teams and provide post-production support; troubleshoot defects.
