Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an Engineer for the Electric Distribution Planning team in West Columbia, SC. The role focuses on planning and optimizing the electric distribution grid to ensure safe, reliable power delivery.

The position will be filled at a level commensurate with education, experience, and credentials. You will lead planning efforts, collaborate with substation and transmission teams, and engage in projects involving SCADA, AMI, and distributed energy resources.

Qualifications

• 4-year engineering degree from ABET-accredited program or recognized equivalent
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (4-year) with ABET or Washington Accord recognition
• Professional Engineer license or FE/PE progression as described in job levels

Responsibilities

• Lead distribution system planning including load capacity analysis, protection, and reliability improvements
• Drive capital planning and system improvement prioritization
• Support budgeting, project management, and work management system enhancements
• Collaborate with substation and transmission planning to support distribution growth
• Field work with programming and troubleshooting on reclosers, regulators, and related devices
• Contribute to SCADA, ADMS/FLISR, AMI initiatives for distribution optimization
• Support DER integration, system impact studies, and stakeholder engagement
• Assist storm restoration activities aligned with CQ-level engineers and CPDs
