encoord is seeking a Senior Distribution Planning Engineer to join our Product Team in the Denver area. The role focuses on developing integrated planning workflows that connect distribution planning with transmission and bulk power studies, and involves limited client-facing engagements.

You will build distribution models, apply unbalanced three‑phase power flow, and help translate utility needs into SAInt specifications while collaborating with software and success teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on distribution planning experience at utilities or consultancies.
• Experience performing distribution planning studies directly, not just management.
• Knowledge of feeder/substation modeling and hosting capacity analyses.
• Experience with DER interconnection and load forecasting is a plus.
• Clear ability to communicate technical results to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Build, validate, and review distribution network models and perform unbalanced three‑phase power flow.
• Develop integrated planning workflows linking distribution, transmission, and bulk studies.
• Support studies on DER impacts and transmission system benefits.
• Conduct feeder- and substation-level load forecasting and identify thermal/voltage violations.
• Translate utility needs into SAInt modeling specifications and data requirements.
• Prototype automation for data conditioning and scenario setup.
• Collaborate with software engineers on feature development and testing.
• Assist in client engagements with trainings, discussions, and project delivery.
