Job summary

Eli is hiring a Senior Engineer in San Francisco to build and maintain high-integrity systems that verify eligibility, manage payments, and audit trails for energy program payments. You will own key components from verification to ledger reconciliation, collaborating with co-founders and a small engineering team.

You will work with TypeScript on the backend, modern frameworks, and a microservice-oriented stack, while ensuring compliance and security in a SOC 2 environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production software.
• Deep TypeScript on the backend (Bun, Node, Next.js, tRPC, Prisma).
• Solid relational database skills in MySQL or Postgres.

Responsibilities

• Own product end-to-end: identify needs, build, monitor production; adjust as needed.
• Define AI decisions that move money: verification, eligibility, fraud detection; determine model vs rule vs human.
• Manage money movement: ledger, loan tape, bank reconciliations, audit-ready systems.
• Own internal tool stack: consolidate systems into in-house tooling.
• Own platform and production: CI speed, test health, backups, migrations, alerts, and incident response.
