Job summary

Apple Inc. in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate backend services for a secure, auditable transaction platform. You will own APIs, data models, and orchestration across the transaction lifecycle.

You will collaborate with Finance, Controllership, and Accounts Payable to deliver scalable, reliable systems while mentoring engineers and driving architectural excellence.

Qualifications

• B.S. in CS/CE or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8 years of professional software development experience.
• 6 years with Java, concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization.
• 8 years with OOP, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• 6 years building production apps with the Spring ecosystem and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services across the transaction lifecycle.
• Create APIs for AI agents: contracts, inputs/outputs, idempotent ops.
• Implement agent workflows in production: orchestration, memory, validation.
• Build operator surfaces: queues, review, audit trails and APIs.
• Model and evolve the platform's data layer with canonical docs and events.
• Write business logic as configurable rules rather than hard-coded branches.
• Own production readiness: instrumentation, alerting, on-call, cost.
• Mentor engineers and uphold code quality through reviews.
