Job summary

Eli is seeking a Senior Engineer in New York to join a small team shipping complex financial and eligibility software for energy programs. You will own significant portions of the system from verification to payments, often working with AI-assisted tooling while maintaining strict accuracy and security.

You should bring 6+ years of production software experience, deep backend TypeScript skills, and strong database design capabilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production software (ideally some before AI coding tools) with responsibility for a system when it breaks.
• Deep TypeScript on the backend (Bun, Node, Next.js, tRPC, Prisma or similar) and solid MySQL/PostgreSQL skills: schema design, query plans, migrations.
• Track record of taking on work outside your assigned lane and finishing it.

Responsibilities

• Own product features end-to-end: determine needs, build, run in production, and adapt.
• Define and supervise AI-driven decisions affecting money movement and verification.
• Oversee ledger, loan tape reporting to lender, and ensure auditable accuracy to the cent.
• Consolidate and improve internal tool stack, migrating from tools like Airtable to in-house systems.
• Maintain platform and production health: CI speed, test suites, backups, migrations, alerts, and incident analysis.
