Job summary

People Technology And Processes seeks a Master Course Approval SME (Top-Level Engine Mariner) in Martinsburg, WV to lead mariner credentialing reviews and draft responses ensuring regulatory conformance.

This role applies senior engine expertise across propulsion modes to evaluate course content, supports the National Maritime Center with technical services, and collaborates with stakeholders to meet mission needs.

Qualifications

• Must hold or have held, at a minimum, a valid U.S. Coast Guard-issued MMC endorsed as Chief Engineer of vessels of any horsepower (Unlimited Horsepower) for Motor (Diesel), Steam, or Gas Turbine propulsion.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience sailing on that credential.
• Preferred (not required): Experience with multiple or all propulsion modes (Motor, Steam, and Gas Turbine); experience in writing or developing training courses.
• A valid STCW certificate is not required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Draft appropriate responses for mariner training course approvals regarding the conformance of course requests to regulatory requirements.
• Provide top-level engine subject matter expertise to the review and evaluation of mariner training courses.
• Support the full range of technical services required to meet the mission needs of the National Maritime Center.
