Qualifications

• Advanced understanding of maritime engineering regulations, Coast Guard policies, and international merchant mariner standards.
• Exceptional written communication skills to draft official correspondence and technical recommendations.
• Strong analytical skills to assess complex engineering training materials for regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work independently while meeting monthly production and quality metrics.
• Preferred: experience in writing, developing, or designing maritime training courses.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate maritime engineering training provider courses, covering curricula, training sites, and instructors for conformance to 46 CFR Parts 10, 11, and 12.
• Formulate recommendations for the Coast Guard and draft formal responses, updating as required during reviews.
• Maintain a high volume of evaluations, targeting a minimum of 20 course approvals per month.
• Participate in mandatory two-week training/orientation at the National Maritime Center (NMC) in Martinsburg, WV, plus additional on-site training as requested.
