Qualifications

• Must hold or have held a valid U.S. Coast Guard MMC endorsed as Master of Unlimited Tonnage upon Oceans OR Chief Mate of Unlimited Tonnage upon Oceans.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience sailing on that credential.
• Preferred: experience in writing or developing training courses.
• A valid STCW certificate is not required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Draft appropriate responses for mariner training course approvals regarding conformance to regulatory requirements.
• Provide top-level deck subject matter expertise to the review and evaluation of mariner training courses.
• Support the full range of technical services required to meet the mission needs of the National Maritime Center.
