Job summary

Hydrostor, a leading energy storage company, seeks a Senior Commissioning Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning across Hydrostor’s A-CAES projects in Texas. You’ll ensure subsurface, surface, and balance-of-plant systems are tested and handed over to operations.

You will partner with EPCM partners, OEMs, contractors, and internal teams to deliver an integrated commissioning program, manage schedules, testing (FAT/SAT), regulatory filings, and ensure readiness

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of experience in commissioning, start-up, or project execution within energy, power generation, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; P.Eng. is an asset.
• Proven experience developing and executing commissioning plans across complex, multidisciplinary systems.
• Experience coordinating EPC/EPCM contractors, OEMs, and vendors during commissioning activities.
• Strong turbomachinery experience, including steam turbines, axial compressors, and thermal management systems in heavy process facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the comprehensive commissioning plan for the plant, including both hot and cold commissioning activities across all systems.
• Lead end-to-end integration of new energy storage assets, ensuring readiness from development through commissioning.
• Coordinate with EPC/EPCM contractors to plan, sequence, and execute commissioning activities in alignment with milestones.
• Build and manage the commissioning schedule with project controls to integrate with the overall project schedule.
• Lead commissioning activities across subsurface and above-ground systems, including turbo machinery and balance of plant.
• Collaborate with OEMs and vendors to integrate equipment-specific commissioning requirements.
• Ensure mechanical and electrical systems are prepared for commissioning through structured checks and readiness reviews.
• Oversee testing programs: FAT, SAT, and functional performance testing.
• Coordinate and support regulatory filings and grid interconnection requirements.
