Job summary

OpenAI is hiring a Senior Employee Relations Partner in San Francisco to focus on non-investigative ER work, guiding high‑trust, high‑impact people matters. You’ll manage conflict resolution, high‑risk performance issues, and sensitive exits with empathy and strategic judgment.

You will shape AI-infused ER workflows, collaborate across HR and Legal, and help leaders make principled decisions reflecting our evolving culture. Hybrid work with relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience in employee relations or other People roles, ideally in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
• Experience with tech, research, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
• Ability to design scalable solutions and navigate ambiguity with calm judgment.

Responsibilities

• Advise and guide managers, HRBPs, and cross-functional partners through complex or high-risk employee situations, including performance management and difficult conversations.
• Support high-trust, high-impact employee matters with principled, strategic thinking.
• Help shape the responsible adoption of AI-enabled tools within ER while maintaining confidentiality and safeguards.
• Build scalable tools and frameworks to strengthen ER support across the company.
• Translate recurring ER challenges into operating practices and manager resources without adding bureaucracy.
• Act as a sounding board and escalation partner for workplace culture concerns and leadership dynamics.
• Collaborate with Legal, HRBPs, and leadership to align on people decisions and policy implementation.
• Navigate ambiguity with proactive, calm, and solutions-oriented mindset to move toward resolution.
