Job description

Sr. Employee Relations Advisor

The Senior Employee Relations Advisor is a key member of the People Department at GEICO. This role will effectively conduct and manage internal investigations from intake to resolution, ensuring employees are treated fairly and with respect, and that cases are resolved in a timely manner. The role provides advice and counsel to HRBP, HR Operations, and managers to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures across the organization. The Sr. Employee Relations Advisor reports to the Manager, Associate Relations, and partners closely with Legal, HR Business Partners, DEI Partners, Internal Fraud, and other functions within the People Team.

Employee Relations Investigation:
  1. Conduct thorough, impartial, and timely investigations of sensitive employee relations matters, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other workplace concerns, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.
  2. Prepare comprehensive case summaries and present fact-based investigation outcomes to appropriate business partners, utilizing strong written and verbal communication skills for clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.
  3. Identify and mitigate organizational risks by managing employee relations issues and ensuring adherence to policies, practices, and GEICO's Associate Value Proposition.
Consultative:
  1. Consult with Employees and Leaders on behavior and conduct matters.
  2. Counsel Leadership on performance and misconduct issues, advising on effective disciplinary actions and resolving associate inquiries and appeals.
Data Analytics:
  1. Evaluate employee relations data and trends to identify root causes, key issues, and opportunities for proactive intervention, providing actionable insights to HR leadership and business partners.
  2. Use investigation data and trends to inform leadership decisions, mitigate risks, and enhance workplace culture.
Partners:
  1. Align with key stakeholders (including HRBP, HR Advisory Services, Leaders) to meet business outcomes and objectives.
  2. Develop effective relationships with cross-functional partners such as Legal and the Special Investigation Unit, becoming a trusted resource.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading HR investigations.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
  • Proficiency in case management tools.
  • Ability to work in a high-demand, fast-paced environment with diverse, geographically dispersed teams.

This is a hybrid role, in office 3 days a week.
