Job summary

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) invites applications for a subject matter expert on alert and warning systems. You will provide analytical support for developing critical state emergency plans and coordinate across divisions and partners to ensure systems meet standards.

You will guide and train local government partners to strengthen alerting capabilities while managing essential administrative and compliance tasks to meet state and federal requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong situational awareness during rapidly evolving statewide emergencies.
• Clear, concise communication skills for diverse California communities.
• Experience using alerting systems such as IPAWS, WEA, and EAS.
• Proven ability to collaborate with local, state, federal, and tribal partners.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on alert and warning systems and provide analytical support for emergency plans.
• Collaborate across Cal OES divisions and with state, local, federal, and NGO partners.
• Deliver training to local government partners to strengthen alert and warning capabilities.
• Manage key administrative and compliance tasks supporting state and federal requirements.
