Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies in Irvine, CA, seeks an Sr. EMC Design Engineer to lead the development of electrical vehicle ECUs and EMC solutions across domains.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration, detailed test planning for LV/HV systems, RF, and instrumentation, and frequent in-office work. A strong EMC background and 5–7 years of relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Hands-on experience with electrical hardware and test equipment.
• Ability to read in detail circuit and wiring block diagrams & schematics.
• Experience with EMC/EMC standards and automotive testing requirements.
• Experience designing power supplies or voltage/current regulators; knowledge of transmission line design.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical and mechanical designs for EMC/EMI compliance and vehicle environmental survivability.
• Write and execute test plans for LV/HV Electrical, RF, and instrumentation hardware.
• Develop EMI/RF and electrical design, test, and analysis skills on-the-job.
• Identify ECU-level susceptibilities to electromagnetic environments (ESD, transients, emissions).
• Collaborate with design engineers to develop ECUs within EMC specs.
• Define and validate ECU grounding/bonding/shielding specs.
