Job summary

Laminar, based in Somerville, MA, seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to own signal processing and firmware for Laminar’s process-aware sensors. This hands-on role sits at the intersection of embedded systems, DSP, and sensing methods.

You will implement detectors, own data from end to end, and collaborate with Hardware and ML teams to gain industrial process visibility. You will design and implement firmware for acquisition, calibration, and device connectivity, ensuring robust

Qualifications

• 4+ years of embedded software experience on sensors or instrumentation.
• Owns design, implementation, and success of major components within a larger system.
• Able to define technical direction, take ownership, and deliver in a fast-paced product iteration cycle.
• Strong embedded C/C++ on microcontrollers with Zephyr experience.
• Experience with signal chains, analog basics, and EMI/noise considerations.
• Testing-heavy mindset with unit tests, hardware mocks, CI, and realistic data.

Responsibilities

• Own the sensing signal chain, including ADC acquisition, timing, filtering, integration, averaging, and calibration.
• Integrate new detectors and sensing elements from board bring-up to production-ready drivers.
• Tackle noise like vibration, EMI, thermal drift to extract real signals.
• Develop firmware in Zephyr to interface detectors with the sensor stack.
• Implement firmware calibration, on-device coefficient storage, third-party calibration, and provisioning.
• Ship drivers, OTA, and health monitoring for sensors to the Edge Gateway.
