Job summary

AV is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Embedded) to develop software for embedded devices and unmanned systems used in defense and commercial applications. You will design, code, test and debug system software for aircraft and payloads, and validate efficiency, stability, and scalability on target devices.

The role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, rapid prototyping, hardware selection input, and supporting flight test operations and production transitions.

Qualifications

• BS or equivalent in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience.
• Expert with Python, C, C++11/C++ STL and OpenCL.
• Experience with Visual Studio, Eclipse and defect-tracking tools.
• Familiar with RS-485/232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB.

Responsibilities

• Writes/tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or robotic systems.
• Designs/implements software for prototypes/products using AeroVironment tools; ensure configuration control.
• Assists in writing system requirements, test plans, diag tools; supports hardware selection.
• Develops concepts, estimates time to develop software and scope per timeline.
• Supports flight-test operations and transition to production environments.
