Job summary

Blue Origin in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the TeraWave program. You will lead a team of engineers, design embedded software for satellite payloads and ground systems, and advance architecture for constrained environments.

You will implement drivers, optimize performance, and collaborate across hardware and software teams. Responsibilities include mentoring, ensuring code quality, and driving CI/CD and testing automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development in C/C++ for Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal platforms.
• Strong proficiency in C++ OO design and implementation.
• Experience with debugging embedded systems using SW/HW tools (JTAG, SWD, CoreSight, Lauterbach/Trace32, J-Link, J-Trace).
• Experience with peripherals (SPI, I3C, I2C, PCIe, CAN).
• Experience with Linux networking and inter-core communications (Ethernet, Interlaken, JESD).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Test-Driven Development.
• Experience leading software teams and mentoring engineers.
• Experience with Agile or Scaled Agile methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen/national or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop multi-threaded embedded software in C/C++ on Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal platforms.
• Implement device drivers and management/control/data plane functions for satellite transceivers and optical systems.
• Own a designated system area, lead feasibility studies, prototyping, and architecture definitions.
• Define scaling, fault-tolerance, and recovery strategies.
• Set performance KPIs and optimize compute, memory, storage, network, and I/O.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate software with hardware.
• Contribute to documentation, reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Troubleshoot using telemetry, logs, and debugging tools.
• Champion CI/CD, testing automation, and TDD practices.
• Lead and mentor a high-skilled software team to deliver with speed and quality.
