Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead embedded software for the TeraWave space-based network. You will own architectures for the control and data planes on multi-core SoCs, work with cross-functional teams, and drive high-assurance software in constrained environments.

Requirements include 7+ years in embedded C/C++, Linux/RTOS, and strong leadership. Onsite roles are in the Seattle Bay Area or CA, with relocation support available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of embedded software development in C/C++ for Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal.
• Strong proficiency in C++ OO design and implementation.
• Hands-on debugging with JTAG, SWD, CoreSight, Lauterbach/Trace32, J-Link, J-Trace.
• Experience with Linux networking and high-speed data-plane interfaces.
• Experience leading software teams and mentoring engineers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or valid refugee/asylum status.

Responsibilities

• Own software architecture and design of system areas and present options in cross-team discussions.
• Collaborate with hardware, silicon and systems engineering to integrate and troubleshoot.
• Lead multithreaded embedded software development on Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal.
• Define scaling, fault tolerance and recovery strategies.
• Define KPIs and develop methods to measure and optimize resources.
• Contribute to documentation, code reviews and architecture decisions.
• Champion embedded software development, testing, CI/CD and automation.
• Mentor a team of engineers and drive delivery with speed and quality.
