Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense seeks a Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing next‑generation imaging systems (infrared, low‑light, and visible). The role requires self‑motivation and the ability to work independently or with others on complex systems in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities include low‑level hardware interfacing, real-time multi‑processor communication, and implementation of protocols (Ethernet, ARINC, CAN).

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or applicable technical field.
• The successful candidate will have 10+ years of embedded real-time development experience for multithreaded software.
• Complete command of C/C++ and object-oriented design methods fluency.
• Experience with Linux kernel drivers and interfacing to custom hardware.
• Due to program requirements, you must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement low level hardware interfacing software for imaging sensors in a multithreaded environment.
• Design and implement real-time multi-processor communication methodologies.
• Implement complex serial and packetized protocols on Ethernet, ARINC, CAN, and serial connections (e.g., TCP/IP, JSON, REST).
• Use of version control software, GIT or similar tools.
• Collaborate with FPGA, Electrical, and Mechanical engineers during all phases of design, development, and testing of the software.
• Foster a collaborative team environment and cross-discipline knowledge sharing.
