Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking a Sr. Linux Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain applications and embedded software for advanced analytical instrumentation systems.

This role requires deep expertise in Linux-based embedded systems, instrument control, and scalable software architecture for complex scientific products. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field; equivalent experience considered.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Embedded Linux development with Linux system configuration, Bash scripting, Yocto/BitBake, Linux kernel and driver development, device trees, U-Boot, SWUpdate.
• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, and object-oriented software design.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Experience developing software for embedded systems and distributed architectures.
• Strong understanding of multi-threaded programming, debugging, and software security principles.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, if required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and embedded systems through the software lifecycle.
• Develop software solutions for instrument control, UI, data processing, and analytics.
• Implement innovative user interfaces, data analysis capabilities, and instrument troubleshooting and debugging.
• Support new product development and sustain existing products through troubleshooting and enhancements.
• Collaborate with engineering, scientific, project management, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
