Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, Illinois, is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Electrification to join a cross-functional team working on advanced machine electrification solutions.

You will design, develop, validate and optimize embedded software for ECUs supporting electric and hybrid platforms. The role requires expertise in embedded C, real-time software, and model-based development with MATLAB/Simulink, plus experience with CAN/CAN FD and RTOS environments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with embedded real-time software for powertrain or electrification systems is preferred.
• Proven ability to work with MATLAB/Simulink in embedded software environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software for electrification and propulsion control systems.
• Integrate software components and manage builds for ECUs.
• Collaborate with controls engineers and validate code against requirements.
• Perform unit, integration, and MIL/SIL/HIL testing as needed.
• Troubleshoot defects and ensure traceability throughout development.
