Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Electrification to join a cross-functional team focused on powertrain electrification. You will design, develop, integrate, validate, and optimize embedded software for ECUs in electric and hybrid machines.

Responsibilities include collaboration with controls engineers, mentorship of juniors, and ensuring production-ready software through rigorous verification and tracing throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Experience with embedded real-time software development.
• Proven experience with model-based development using Matlab/Simulink.
• Knowledge of embedded communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, J1939, Ethernet).
• Experience with software version control tools (Git) and RTOS environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software for electrification and propulsion control systems.
• Integrate software components and manage builds for ECUs.
• Validate and verify software against functional and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with controls engineers and mentor junior engineers.
