Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop, and maintain flight-critical software for commercial aviation solutions and avionics products.

You will lead cross-functional teams through requirement specification, implementation, testing, verification, and certification support, while mentoring junior developers and collaborating with systems and hardware architects.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle.
• C / C++ programming experience.
• Proficiency with modern software development best practices and configuration management tools.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, and maintenance of flight-critical embedded software for aviation solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams on real-time embedded software.
• Support requirements, implementation, testing, verification, and certification activities.
• Develop, coordinate, and conduct complex tests and debugging.
• Collaborate with systems and hardware architects on embedded processing systems.
• Mentor software developers in technical and process areas.
• Develop solutions meeting avionics standards such as POSIX, ARINC-615A/653/661, IEEE 803.2, ARINC-664.
• Travel up to 10% as needed.
