Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Software Engineer Architect - Embedded to serve as a senior technical leader responsible for architecting, developing, integrating, and verifying high‑reliability embedded software for advanced aerospace and defense systems.

You will provide expert guidance across the software lifecycle, shape time-critical solutions, mentor engineers, and drive design reviews to meet performance and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in C and C++, including embedded and real-time development.
• Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, VxWorks) including scheduling, drivers, task management, semaphores, and queues.
• Experience developing software for ARM processors, including peripherals and low-level hardware interfaces.
• Active and transferable U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance required; U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level software lifecycle guidance and influence system architecture decisions.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and ensure performance, cybersecurity, and safety requirements are met.
• Provide technical ownership for embedded software across design, implementation, integration, and verification activities.
• Design scalable, secure software architectures aligned with system requirements and cybersecurity standards.
• Lead Agile/Scrum activities and integrate DevOps practices with GitLab.
