RTX is seeking a Principal Software Lead Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA, onsite, to lead embedded software efforts for multi-year, high-stakes programs.

You will drive excellence in embedded C/C++, Python, and software processes, while coordinating small teams and ensuring cost and schedule alignment. A Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship are required, with sign-on bonus eligibility and comprehensive RTX benefits.

Qualifications

• Cost account management experience over a team of engineers.
• Integrated Master Schedule experience for a multi-year program.
• Risk/opportunity frameworks for schedule and cost constraints.
• Product owner duties, scope management, and backlog management.
• Active Secret clearance and transferability.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• STEM degree with 8+ years of experience or advanced degree with 5+ years.

Responsibilities

• Lead embedded software development across all phases for C/C++ and Python.
• Develop technical proposals and program-level cost estimates for bids.
• Coordinate software execution for small teams ensuring technical quality and alignment with cost/schedule.
• Translate customer requirements into end-to-end system solutions.
• Manage program cost, schedule, and risk using earned value metrics.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks early.
