Job summary

Amazon Robotics in Massachusetts is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer with deep Rust expertise to lead safety-rated sensor processing firmware for our autonomous robot fleet. You will set technical direction for subsystems in the Safety Perception stack across RTOS and Linux on heterogeneous multi-core MCU/CPU/GPU platforms.

You will mentor engineers, influence hardware, safety, and navigation teams, and drive end-to-end debugging and design reviews to ensure correctness under IEC

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• 6+ years in programming with at least one language.
• 6+ years leading design or architecture of systems.
• Experience mentoring, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
• Proficiency in embedded development in Rust or strong C/C++ with willingness to move to Rust.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of safety-rated firmware subsystems in Rust on multi-core platforms.
• Set technical direction across the sensor processing pipeline and coordinate with hardware and safety teams.
• Own end-to-end problems and frame solutions where the business needs are clear but strategy is not.
• Drive perception features under IEC 61508 certification with data integrity through diagnostics.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and produce safety analysis artifacts.
• Lead debugging and root-cause analysis on real robots and production environments.
• Leverage AI coding assistants to improve team efficiency.
