Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer with deep Rust expertise to lead safety-rated sensor processing firmware for autonomous robots. You will set technical direction for major subsystems of the Safety Perception stack, bridging RTOS and Linux on multi-core MCU/CPU/GPU platforms and mentoring engineers while collaborating with hardware and navigation teams.

You will own end-to-end design, diagnose complex issues, and drive interfaces to ensure correctness and safety.

Qualifications

6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
6+ years of programming in at least one language.
6+ years leading design or architecture of systems.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or engineering team leader.
Proficiency in embedded Rust; or strong C/C++ with willingness to work in Rust.

Responsibilities

Lead design and architecture of safety-rated firmware subsystems in Rust on heterogeneous multi-core platforms.
Set technical direction across the full sensor processing pipeline and influence cross-disciplinary teams.
Own the team's hardest end-to-end problems and frame solutions when the business problem is known but the tech strategy is unclear.
Drive perception features enabling safe obstacle detection under IEC 61508 certification.
Mentor engineers to improve reliability without making the team rely on one person.
Produce design documents and safety analysis artifacts for third-party certification.
Lead debugging and root-cause analysis from raw sensor data to safety responses on real robots.
