Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead an embedded firmware team responsible for safety-rated sensor processing and real-time interfaces on heterogeneous MCU/CPU/GPU platforms. The role is hands-on in setting direction, growing the team, and delivering firmware that meets IEC 61508 safety certification requirements.

You will partner with electrical, mechanical, functional safety, navigation, and manufacturing teams to close failure modes and ensure robust

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 3+ years of technical leadership and project management across SDLC.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in a related field.
• Knowledge of SDLC practices including coding standards, reviews, source control, builds, testing, and live-site operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience leading embedded, real-time, or safety-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Hire, coach, and develop a high-judgment embedded software team.
• Own the technical roadmap, delivery, and operational excellence for safety-rated firmware.
• Set and uphold engineering standards across the sensor processing pipeline.
• Partner with electrical, mechanical, functional safety, navigation, and manufacturing teams.
• Represent the team in safety certification and design reviews.
• Balance long-term architecture with near-term delivery for safety and performance.
